"Hurumlandet" near the Oslo fjord has been the location of Norway's most advanced EME setup. The designer, builder and owner was LA8YB, Finn Jensen, born in July 1929. Finn died in August 2011, at the age of 82. Photos are borrowed from the LA3F club station website www.la3f.no.

LA8YB FINN

Finn was pushing 1.5kW into his 144 MHz EME antenna array. Behind his left arm runs the coax feeding the array, thicker than the nearby waterspout.

THE BIG GUN

Finn's 144 MHz array must have been one of the world's largest, consisting of 32 Yagis, each with 17 elements on 10m long booms. Antenna gain approached 30 dB.
